What a week! It’s amazing what the Lord can do as you truly rely on him! This week was full of miracles! Monday was spent with all the other missionaries playing chair soccer. Tuesday we did service for a member by helping to clean out the bathroom of a trailer that hadn’t been lived in for 10 years…Oh how I wish we would have taken a before and after picture! It was fun though! Wednesday we were able to have two great lessons, one with our investigator, Brenda, who is a young mom, and another with Bill and Kathryn! Kathryn is so prepared to receive the gospel — while we are teaching her she takes notes on what we say! Her and Bill were also able to make it to church and they loved it!
On Thanksgiving morning, we played football with the Hemet missionaries and had dinner at Sister Therrian’s home. She is an angel and invited a ton of less actives to join us! She is the type of person that would give you the coat off her back! We then got back together with the Hemet missionaries to watch Ephraim’s Rescue (a church movie of course). Because we lived so far, we had to leave at the part where the guy finds out that the girl he loves died. 😦 It was a great Thanksgiving!
We spent Friday in Idyllwild which was the best time to go because it was snowing!!! We didn’t have anyone to teach so we just went contacting (walking and talking to people about the gospel). We walked for an hour and a half in the snow which was fun, but it meant there was nobody outside until this guy pops out of a bush and wants to hear our message! lol! He was a local wood carver and knows a lot of people that we could go teach! That was such a blessing and miracle! Saturday we had three lessons with people we were teaching which all went really well! We saw Kathryn and Bill again and taught them about the Plan of Salvation and how we can be with our loved ones forever. We also taught a small older lady named Ann, who lives in our trailer park. She knows that the church is true but doesn’t want to be baptized now, but she has committed to praying about it! We taught Randy, who is one of my favorite people we are teaching up here! He is 24 and just moved from a rough part of Los Angeles. We taught him about the gospel of Jesus Christ and the spirit in the lesson was so powerful! He is on date to be baptized the second Sunday in January!
Sunday was our miracle day! We had not been able to pick up any new investigators this week, so that was our focus so that we could make mission standard. As we were on our way to a potential investigator, we ended up pulling into someone else’s driveway. A man comes out and we were able to share a message with him! As we shared the “Because He Lives” video, he got emotional and said we could come back! When we got to the potential investigator’s house that we were originally going to, Ranee, we were able to teach her as well. As we were going through a list of people that previous missionaries had taught, we came across this lady named Linda, who did not get back to the missionaries that used to teach her We called her up and she said we could come by. It turns out that her son, Dillon, who is now 13, had leukemia and had gotten a priesthood blessing that helped him a lot with getting through chemo. We can tell that they are prepared and we are excited to teach them! We also taught a young couple in our trailer park, Corine and Jesse! The lesson was amazing!! As we read Moroni 10:3-5, he said “Whoa, I just felt this peaceful feeling inside, I don’t mean to sound weird or anything.” We were like “that’s the spirit!”. Ahh, it was so cool!
We were able to make our mission standard by working hard to accomplish our goals through and for the Lord! What a great week! We spent our day today doing crossfit with our Mission President and half the mission….three months in a car really catches up with you! Haha!
Happy Birthday to my beautiful little sister, Lindsey!!! I love and miss you! See you in exactly a year from yesterday (the 29th)! 🙂
