Cold, Wet, and the Spirit (week 42)

This week was great!  As always!  One of my favorite experiences I had this week was a blessing we received form being diligent.  It was late and raining last Monday night and we were trying to figure out where to go.  Everyone we would try that opened the door that night thought we were crazy standing in the rain, but we were on the hunt for people that would receive us!  We decided to stop by a former investigators home that lived in the area we were at the time.  It turns out that the person we thought we were stopping by to see had moved, but the new people that lived there allowed us to show the “Because He Lives” video on their front porch.  It was a mom and her two young daughters.  Their porch was small so Sister Haughawout and I stood in the pouring rain while they watched it.  Although I was cold and wet, I felt the spirit so strong as we testified of Jesus Christ!  I am so grateful for my calling as a missionary!

Another great thing that happened this week was when we were able to teach the Word of Wisdom to our investigator, Craig.  For those of you who don’t know what the Word of Wisdom is, it is a law of health given to us by a loving Heavenly Father through a modern day prophet, Joseph Smith.  We knew how he struggles with smoking and so we weren’t sure how he would take it our message.   The spirit was so strong during the lesson and he committed to giving up smoking!  The next day our ward mission leader, Brother Behrens, was able to give him a priesthood blessing.  He called us later that day and said that is has really helped him!  I know that the Lord gives us commandments for our benefit in this life and in the life to come.  Have a great week!

Love, Sister Meza
